Friday October 4 2013 Umoja Sound System returns with another special Stereo Hi-Fi event. It's an all-vinyl edition of our monthly club night, featuring strictly Umoja Hi-Fi residents DJs digging deep in to their crates and record shelves to play a once--in-a-lifetime selection of vinyl treats. Co-titled The Art of Wax, DJs Daz, Jun, Monalisa, Destroyer and Culture D will present some of the finest songs committed to plastic with an eye on variety, soul and expert mixing.
The crew will leave their laptops at home and take it back to their roots with bags of LP's, 12" singles, 45's and 10-inch dubplates to keep you moving all night long.
Just a few selections the crew will play:
- Culture D: Beres Hammond – "One Dance Won't Do"
- Monalisa: Shaun Escoffery – "Days Like This (Spinna Remix)", Pete Rock & CL Smooth - "The Creator"
- Destroyer: Donald Byrd – "Places & Spaces," Main Source – "Looking At The Front Door"
- Jun: Cameo – "I Just Want To Be," Lil Louis – "I Called You"
Stereo Hi-Fi is a gathering that takes place first Friday's monthly at NOLAs in downtown Los Angeles, located at 734 East 3rd St. in the downtown artist district. Free before 10:30 p.m.!
